Right turn: Vermilion VB tops Clyde in straight sets

Sailors keep Fliers winless

VERMILION – A little home cooking on senior night helped Vermilion (2-5, 2-2) keep Sandusky Bay Conference rival Clyde (0-6, 0-3) winless on the season, Thursday.

Vermilion seniors Emma Kretchar (3), Alexis Logsdon (26), Cam Colahan (34) and Paetyn Frederick (2) posed for photos ahead of Senior Night celebrations on Thursday. The Sailors defeated Clyde in three sets.

On a night Sailors honored the senior class of Cam Colahan, Paetyn Frederick, Emma Kretchmar and Alexis Logsdon – it was the underclass stealing a little bit of the spotlight.

Frederick and Kretchmar set the foundation for Vermilion as the only players with double-digit digs, 18 and 11, respectively. Junior Jenna Peters reaped the rewards, posting a 10 kill, 4 block night. Sophomores Gracie Starcovic (9 kills, 4 aces, 4 blocks), Maddie Stout (6 kills) and Kaitlin Colahan (5 blocks) also got in on the act. Logsdon had a game-high 13 assists.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, 9/ 15 at 6 pm. The Sailors will vie for win number three on the year at Perkins. The Fliers will go for that elusive first win at Huron.
