WELLINGTON – The sun was shining on the Wellington Dukes (2-0) as they busted up a 3-3 tie with five runs in the 4th inning to bump off visiting Open Door (0-2), 9-4. It was a beautiful day for baseball fans and who braved temps in the mid 40’s with a light breeze.

Junior Caleb Teague sparked the Dukes offense going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.  Wellington stole seven bases on the day, including two by senior Mason McClellan who walked and reached on error – both resulting in runs.

The Patriots opened the game with a three-run first inning, but leveled off until adding another run in the sixth.

Teague picks up the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings with four strikeouts and two walks. Jacob Evans started the game: 3 IP, 5H, 3ER, 1BB and 6K’s.

Next up: Wellington heads to Danville on Wednesday, at 5pm. The Patriots will host Bard Early College on Friday at 5pm.
