Girls Got Wings: Inspirational female pilots soar at 2022 Air Show

U.S. Air Force F-16 Tactical Demonstration Pilot and Top Ranked Aerobatic Competition Pilot

CLEVELAND, OH – We’ve known this – but did YOU know that The Cleveland National Air Show presented by Discount Drug Mart will soar with inspirational female pilots on Labor Day Weekend (September 3, 4 & 5) at Burke Lakefront Airport?

Captain Aimee Fiedler, U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon Tactical Demonstration Team Commander

The U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon Tactical Demonstration will perform precision aerial maneuvers to demonstrate the unique capabilities by one of the Air Force’s premier multi-role fighters. Captain Aimee Fiedler is the F-16 Demonstration Pilot and commander of the 8-member team. With more than 2,000 flying hours, Captain Fiedler has spent the last six years in the Air Force and was a civilian flight instructor prior to her service. She is thrilled to inspire the next generation of pilots and maintainers.

Melissa Dawn Burns is an inspirational woman who will perform powerful aerobatics in her Edge 540. Melissa is a professional aerobatic pilot, world record holder skydiver and world champion B.A.S.E. Jumper. Melissa Burns is a four-time member of the US Unlimited Aerobatic Team and is currently the top ranked female competition pilot in the United States and has ranked top 3 in the world. As a mother of two and a professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University she loves to share her love for aviation and hopes to inspire the next generation to chase their dreams.

Headlining this year’s show are the U.S. Navy Blue Angels showcasing their new F/A-18 Super Hornets for the first time in Cleveland. They will be joined by the U.S. Army Parachute Team and more. Inside the gates, spectators can witness the Blue Angels choreographed “walk down” preflight routine, hear incredible narration and feel the heat from ground shaking pyrotechnics with a Wall of Fire. Ground attractions also include interactive displays, kid[1]friendly activities, drones, and unique display aircraft.

General Admission tickets are $30 for adults ($35 after 8/29/22), $20 for children ages 6-11 and FREE for children 5 and younger. Popular seating options include Reserved Box Seats, Sponsor Boxes, Barnstormer Club and Flight Deck Loge offer a variety of amenities.
