Final two sets decided by fewer than five points

OBERLIN – Wellington Volleyball Coach John Fell kept telling his team, “Don’t make mistakes. Don’t give them anything. Don’t give them any second chances” during Tuesday’s, (13-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-21) win at Oberlin.

The Dukes were blown out in the opening set by a plague of unforced errors, out of bounds hits and a Phoenix team that was ready to play at home.

Oberlin (0-5, 0-3) scraped and clawed all evening, but the final straw came as the Dukes (trailing 17-13 in the fourth set) ripped off an 8-1 run and never trailed again.
