ELYRIA – An uneven stat-line proves quite deceiving as Elyria (2-0) kept GCC rival Mentor (0-1) scoreless, 10-0, on Wednesday. Pioneers starting pitcher junior Isabella St. Peter tossed six shutout innings of two-hit ball, with seven walks and three strikeouts.
Six Elyria batters had a multi-hit night – led by by senior Damia Parks (3-for-3), including a double with two runs and two RBI.
Junior Maycee Godbolt had two hits – including the game’s only home run. Juniors Madison Olszewski, Adrian Petrisko and Molly Fenik along with sophomore Jessica Chapman had two hits apiece. Junior Kerrigan Williams scored twice with an RBI.
GCC ROUNDUPUneven may be the word of the night in the GCC. Solon (2-0) upended Shaker Heights (0-1), 20-0, in five innings. The Comets scored six in the 2nd inning and eight in the 4th. Jessica Marko was 4-for-4 at the plate with 6 RBI – a single shy of the cycle. She doubled twice, tripled and homered. Hallie Sutyak struck out five and walked none to get the win, allowing just two hits. Thru its first two games Solon has outscored opponents 31-1 and only batted in nine innings to do it.
