On a minor-league rehab assignment after being acquired from Toronto, third-baseman Josh Donaldson is hitting .417 with 2 HR and 7 RBI between Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Akron. The 2015 American League MVP with Oakland led the Rubber Ducks to a 5-2 Eastern League Division Series win in Game 1 against Altoona on Wednesday at Canal Park.
RubberDucks starting pitcher Kyle Dowdy struck out six in 6.2 innings to get the victory. R.C. Orlan worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the 7th without allowing a run. A perfect eighth by Nick Sandlin set the table as Rob Kaminsky got the first out of the ninth, while Jordan Milbrath secured his first playoff save securing the final two outs with two runners on base.
Donaldson played the first six innings as part of his rehab schedule. Game two of that series is tonight at 6:35 p.m.
