Falcons Skinner advances to State D-II 110m hurdle final

Perry’s King 2nd in 100m Hurdle

COLUMBUS – Jefferson’s Terril (TJ) Skinner, Jr. is heading to his career-first state track final! The Falcon senior placed 5th in Friday’s preliminaries at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, with the fourth-overall best time of 14.90 in the 110m hurdle. The top nine qualify, including the first and second place finishers in the two heats. They’ll battle it out Saturday at 1:05 p.m..

Heading in as the top seed is John Glenn senior Joseph Clifford with a time of 14.47 seconds – the only runner to break the 14.50 barrier. Coventry junior Damian Jackson was second with a 14.69; Elida junior DeShawn Spivey was third with a 14.74.

Lisbon Beaver freshman James Monte locked up the 4th seed with a 14.91 – good enough for second place in the first heat – automatically qualifying him one spot ahead of Skinner who was 3rd in the second heat.

In the girls 110m hurdle, Perry senior Leah King edged all but one junior to take second place in the top six positions. The top nine advancing to Sunday at 1 p.m..

Jefferson’s Morgan Smith will compete in the D-II pole vault, Saturday morning, with her first flight at 9:30 a.m..
