Browns Can Learn From Backlash Over Public Funding of Sports In Phoenix

As the Cleveland Browns have already done millions of dollars in upgrades to publicly owned First Energy Stadium, more is anticipated in the coming years. Many taxpayers – even fans outside Cleveland and Cuyahoga County – agree that more public money is not the preferred way to go.

Case in point: at a recent Phoenix, Arizona city council meeting – resident Greta Rogers tore into Robert Sarver, owner of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns a week after he requested $150-million dollars for unspecified renovations at Talking Stick Resort Arena downtown.
