Week 3 Roundup: Clearview wins in OT; Avon Lake, Avon, Keystone, Firelands and Brunswick score big

Clippers INT sets up Green game-winner at Wellington

By JAMES McKNIGHT and MICHAEL KELLY

WELLINGTON – Tyler Green’s 6-yard touchdown run in overtime sealed a walk-off victory for Clearview on the road at Wellington, 26-20, on Friday.

The Dukes (1-2, 1-2) worked their way back from some early mistakes. A first half interception by Clippers senior CB Sam Clark in their own end zone ended one drive. Junior running back Kaleb Taylor would get that back with 5:18 in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 20 on a 3-yard scamper. The extra point try was no good.

It was another INT that would doom Wellington’s opening drive in OT. The Clippers defense got the ball to set up Green’s score and end the game.
